About Jerry 'Jaroslav' Gebr

Czech-born artist Jaroslav "Jerry" Gebr received his formal training in European academies at Prague, Munich and Florence. After a four-year sojourn in South America, during which he executed portraits and church murals, Jerry became a U.S. citizen and began his Hollywood career. His paintings and scenic art have been featured in a broad range of classic motion pictures, including The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, The Shoes of the Fisherman, The Sand Pebbles, Scarface, Comes A Horseman, the Batman and Star Trek franchises, and, most recently, The Princess Diaries and The Country Bears Movie. Jerry has worked with many of the industry's top directors, from John Badham to Clint Eastwood to Steven Spielberg. He is perhaps best known for his distinctive title work for The Sting, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Jerry also has extensive TV production experience on such shows as Rod Serling's Night Gallery, Kojak, Columbo, and Murder, She Wrote. Throughout his career, he has continued to augment his Hollywood work with independent commissions for a variety of clients including the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, Circus Vargas, Hastiings School of Law, Harcourt-Brace Jovanovich, the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, major resorts in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, the LA Holocaust Memorial, and prominent private collections. He is a longstanding member of Local 816, I.A.T.S.E., and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
